Man who stole golf cart in Niagara Falls, drove it to Lockport, pleads guilty

Tyler W. Craig stole a golf cart from the Hyde Park Golf Course in Niagara Falls Sept. 5 and drove it to Lockport.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday to that and to an unrelated burglary.

Craig, 31, a former Lockport resident now living on Porter Road, Town of Niagara, accepted a plea deal in exchange for a commitment from Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III to sentence him to no more than five years in prison. Craig is to return to court Sept. 12.

Craig admitted to third-degree grand larceny for the theft of the golf cart, which was recovered damaged in the Town of Lockport. He also pleaded guilty to a reduced count of attempted second-degree burglary for a May 25, 2016, burglary on Ridge Road in Newfane.
