The City of Tonawanda will unveil its Blue and Greenways Intermodal Hub on Saturday, but Mayor Rick Davis said the $1.4 million project is only the first phase.
Phase II, which begins next year, will address additional repairs to the adjacent parking lot in Koening Alley, he said.
Davis said the repair costs are unknown, but the project would be funded by federal Community Development Block Grant funds.
Tonawanda was unable to fund the parking lot in the first phase because it conflicted with Greenway funding of Phase 1 of the hub, which included a bathroom and amenities for bikers, pedestrians and others who use nearby trails and waterways at Gateway Park, he said.
The mayor also announced plans to hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at City Hall to discuss the potential closing of Young Street.
