Apartment building on West Utica gets OK from Planning Board

The Planning Board on Monday approved Whitesand Family LP's proposed 9-unit apartment building at 297 W. Utica St., with a studio apartment and parking on the first floor, and four two-bedroom units on each of the upper two floors.

The board also tabled a proposed five-unit townhome building with 1,533-square-foot for-sale units at 197 W. Utica St., after residents of nearby Anderson Place complained about the height of the proposed building and said they hadn't been consulted by the developer, SkylineCentro Urban Development of Buffalo.

They said it could block their sunlight and lead to an invasion of their privacy. The site is currently a vacant parking lot used by employees of Women & Children's Hospital, but developer SkyCentro bought it in March for a multifamily development.
