It's not the Fair until you watch people eat kale

On Aug. 13, after you get your fill of funnel cake at the Erie County Fair, balance your diet with kale.

You don't have to eat it yourself. Just settle in with your deep-fried garlic mashed potatoes to watch the Kale Yeah! world kale-eating championship, which gets underway at 4 p.m.

Professional eaters, including Eric "Badlands" Booker and Jim Reeves, will be among seasoned and rookie contestants to see how much kale they can consume in eight minutes. They'll compete for $4,000 in prizes, according to a news release.

Last year, in the initial Kale Yeah! at Taste of Buffalo, Gideon Oji knocked back 25 pounds of kale.
