A Hartland man who was 16 years old when he repeatedly molested a 9-year-old girl was sentenced Tuesday to three years in state prison and 10 years of post-release supervision.
Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III denied youthful offender status for James M. LaJoie Jr., now 21, of Hartland Road.
He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted first-degree sexual abuse for the fondling incidents with the girl, which occurred between July 5 and 31, 2011. LaJoie had been on interim probation since his guilty plea in June 2016. Murphy decided Tuesday against keeping LaJoie on probation.
