PLAN AHEAD – Licensed real estate broker Michael Olear, of MJ Peterson, will present a free informational seminar for seniors and caregivers at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Sandra Lane Senior Apartments, 705 Sandra Lane, North Tonawanda.

WINNING WAYS – The recently-crowned Miss New York, Gabrielle Walter from Clarence, will be a guest soprano soloist with the Amherst Symphony Orchestra in a free concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Williamsville’s Island Park, behind Amherst Town Hall. Featured baritone soloist will be Robert Gerst. Leading the orchestra will be summer conductor Bryan Eckenrode.
Walter, a 2015 summa cum laude graduate of Canisius College now studying at the University at Buffalo Law School, competed in the state pageant as Miss Western New York and is going on to represent the state in the Miss America pageant Sept. 10 in Atlantic City, N.J.

CHURCH NOTE – An Anointing of the Sick Healing Mass in honor of St. Peregrine will be offered at 7 p.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk, by Father David Billittiere and the Friends of St. Peregrine. CLEAR SKIES – The Newstead Historical Society will host its second annual Dancing Under the Stars evening from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of the Octagon House, 145 Main St., Akron. In addition to dancing, appetizers and desserts will be provided and there will be auction items and door prizes. Those attending may bring their own beverages.
