Zac Boyes of the Brighton Golf Club , who shot an 86 in the opening round in late June, came back with a 71 on Monday in the final round to win the Buffalo District Golf Association's Sub-Junior (14 and under) stroke-play championship at the Country Club of Buffalo. Boyes overtook Alex Schickling of Hamburg who finished one stroke behind at 78-80-158
In the Junior tournament, Anthony Gullo (Moon Brook) shot 74 in Monday's final round for a 150 total, edging Ian Wagner of Shelridge (76-75-151) for the stroke play championship. Associate member Kevin Zhao (80-80-160) was third.
The first round of the Boys Sub-Junior and Junior tournaments was played on June 26. The final round, scheduled for the next day, was postponed because of weather and not played until Monday.
Only one round of 18 holes was played in the BDGA Girls Sub-Junior and Junior tournaments. Shelby Kmidowski of Hamburg, who is the captain of the Buffalo Seminary team, won the Juniors title with 103. Amie Scherrer of Williamsville (Park CC) took the Sub-Junior title with 98.
