Three Niagara County hospitals will share $1 million in state grants.
DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, owned by Kaleida Health, will receive $300,000 to help expand its emergency department. Kaleida recently disclosed that on Oct. 1, DeGraff will stop performing surgeries and close its intensive care unit. Construction on the expanded $7.8 million emergency department is to begin in August.
A cardiac and stroke center now under construction at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will receive $400,000.
Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston will receive $300,000 toward an upgrade of its electrical system.
State Sen. Robert G. Ortt, R-North Tonawanda, is scheduled to announce the grants Tuesday.
