Three Erie County men were charged with drug possession after authorities executed a search warrant on a vehicle in which they were riding Thursday in Salamanca, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office.
The arrests took place on East Street in the City of Salamanca, the Sheriff's Office said. Arrested were Jose Alvarez, 21, and Angel L. Cabrera, 25, both of Buffalo, and Wilfredo Cruz Jr., 20, of the City of Tonawanda, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Taskforce, the Sheriff's Office and the Salamanca Police Department approached the three men, who were in the vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Office. During a search of their car, authorities seized fentanyl in bags that were packaged for sale, marijuana and illegal pills, the Sheriff's Office said.
After further investigation, authorities searched a hotel room at the Seneca Allegany Casino, where the men had been staying, according to the Sheriff's Office. That search yielded 200 bags of fentanyl, pills and marijuana, the Sheriff's Office said.
