A 28-year-old Dunkirk man was arrested Sunday on reckless endangerment and weapons charges in connection with a shooting on Angell Road in Silver Creek.
Russell C. Genovese Jr. was arrested on a warrant in Silver Creek after he allegedly shot a man with a .22-caliber rifle Saturday evening in what investigators said appears to have been an accident. Deputies said Genovese fired the gun within close proximity to other people at around 7:30 p.m., which resulted in the non-life-threatening injury.
Genovese was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Town of Hanover Court and was remanded to Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
