Traffic stop leads to drug arrest, prison sentence

David Young, 50, of Buffalo, who was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, was sentenced to 30 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.

Cheektowaga Police on Feb. 2, 2015, conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle Young was driving. Young advised an officer that the vehicle was a rental while producing the rental agreement. However, he was not listed as an authorized driver and, as a result, was asked to get out of the vehicle, officials said. While doing so, the officer noticed a syringe in the driver’s seat, officials said.

Young was arrested and, during a search of the vehicle, an officer recovered approximately 325 grams of methamphetamine in the trunk, according to officials.
