A Lockport man who is a Level 3 sex offender in New York state was arrested Thursday on a warrant for a parole violation out of North Carolina, authorities said.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office said it received information that John Anthony Szwalla, 32, was wanted on a fugitive warrant.
Szwalla was arrested without incident and is being held in the Niagara County Jail pending extradition to North Carolina, the Sheriff's Office said.
Szwalla was convicted in North Carolina in 2007 of having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl, according to the New York sex offender registry.
During an appearance in Niagara County Court on Friday, he waived his right to a hearing on his extradition.
