He has a revoked license and a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated, but that didn't stop an East Aurora man from getting in a car and driving drunk again, Erie County Sheriff's deputies say. And this time, he crashed his car, they said.
When deputies arrived at the intersection of Seneca Street and North Star Road in Elma at about 11 p.m. Thursday, they found the car engulfed in flames.
The driver had gotten out of the vehicle, which damaged a utility pole and knocked down utility lines. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, officials said.
Deputies charged Michael Parsons, 50, with felony DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation, circumventing a mandated ignition interlock device and two vehicle and traffic violations. Parsons was not seriously injured, deputies said.
