Thomas M. Bailor, who pleaded guilty to raping a widow in her Niagara Falls apartment Feb. 7, was sentenced Thursday to 14 years in prison and 15 years of post-release supervision.
The 62-year-old victim called Bailor, 58, "a sick sexual predator" and said since the attack, she has been taking drugs for HIV and hepatitis C, just in case he infected her.
"You saw an opportunity and you took it, and you tried to minimize the evidence," Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III told Bailor, who lives in Wrobel Towers on Niagara Avenue in the Falls.
"I want to apologize for what happened. I was in the wrong," Bailor said.
Bailor tried to steal the bedsheets after the attack and tried to get the victim to shower, Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Grundy said.
