Golf tournament in Concord to benefit veterans

About 120 golfers, many of them veterans, are expected to play Saturday at Concord Crest Golf Course in East Concord in the third annual Stars & Stripes classic annual golf tournament to benefit area veterans groups.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to Dog Tags New York, Patriot Guard Riders and the Capt. John J. Levulis Memorial Foundation. Proceeds also will provide care packages of socks, gloves, hand warmers, snacks, personal hygiene items and more to area homeless veterans.

A color guard from Post 880, Newell-Faulkner American Legion in Eden and Mike Skowronski from Heard of Buffalo singing the National Anthem will send the golfers off for the 18-hole tournament.

Last year's tournament raised $6,000 for Veterans One-Stop of Western New York, Dog Tags and the Levulis foundation.
