Turn on the light in an effort to raise political awareness
My daughter thought we, as citizens, should make a statement of our frustration with all the chaos and dishonesty occurring in our country by arranging to have everyone come out of their houses and stand together on a given night.
I love the idea if we could organize it and spread the word some way.
I would suggest another, maybe easier idea – that until government events stop moving in a negative direction, we all turn on our front outside lights (or put a battery candle in your window) and not turn them off until we see change. It would be a constant reminder to those in office that we’re watching and are ready to act if need be, whether by voting or marching, etc.
As Dylan Thomas said: “Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” It is America’s light at stake here and we all, whatever our political bent, should care about that.
