Police identify go-kart driver killed Saturday in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls police have identified the go-kart driver killed in Saturday's crash on Buffalo Avenue as Mark M. Miles, 34.

Miles, of Niagara Falls, died at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after he crashed with the driver of a Chevrolet Volt at about 2:45 p.m. on the 1900 block of Buffalo Avenue, police said.

Miles' go-kart was heading west on Buffalo Avenue when it spun around into eastbound traffic, police have said. The driver of the Volt was unable to avoid the go-kart, authorities said. Miles was not wearing a helmet.

Miles' go-kart got lodged beneath the other vehicle. He had just had new equipment installed on the machine at a nearby auto-shop prior to the crash.

The investigation into the crash is closed and no charges are pending, Niagara Falls Police Capt. Michael Trane said in an email.
