Somerset man charged in knifepoint robbery at Lockport gas station

Jamil T. Alhorebi pleaded not guilty in Niagara County Court Monday to an indictment accusing him of robbing a Town of Lockport gas station at knifepoint Oct. 1.

Alhorebi, 31, of Lakeview Drive, Somerset, is charged with first-degree robbery and fourth-degree weapons possession in the crime at the Sunoco station at South Transit and Robinson roads.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan K. Parisi said Alhorebi allegedly went behind the counter, threatening the cashier with a knife, and stole cash and cigarettes.

He said Alhorebi was arrested the next day after a shoplifting incident at the Lockport Walmart, allegedly carrying the same knife. A search warrant at his home disclosed clothing matching that worn by the Sunoco robber, Parisi said.

Alhorebi has pleaded not guilty in the Walmart case and is scheduled for a Town Court trial on charges of petit larceny and drug possession.
