Many people may be chanting "Lock them up!" Sunday in Hamburg when the Hamburg Historical Society unveils its newly restored "village lock-up."
The small village lock-up was located on Center Street in the Village of Hamburg from 1895 to 1915. Society members restored the wood building and three jail cells to match descriptions in society records.
And to help pay for the improvements and a bronze plaque, the society will lock up Steven Walters, a supervisor; Cathy Rybczynski, the town clerk; and Police Chief Gregory Wickett in a jail-and-bail fundraiser.
The lockup starts at 2 p.m., the grand opening is scheduled at 3 p.m. and the society's annual chicken barbecue will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at the historical society, 5859 South Park Ave.
