Authorities have identified the two people killed in Sunday night's crash in Hartland as residents of Stamford, Conn., according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
Margaret A. Hammerl, 82, and Andrew J. Hammerl, 84, both died at the scene of the crash, which happened at 7:12 p.m. at the intersection of Quaker and Ridge roads, the Sheriff's Office said
Deputies who arrived at the scene found one vehicle in the westbound lane of Ridge and the other off the road in the southwest corner of the intersection, authorities said. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.
The Hammerls' 2014 Toyota Camry was traveling south on Quaker, stopped at the stop sign, then started to cross Ridge Road when it was struck by a 2004 Dodge Ram heading west on Ridge, the Sheriff's Office said.
Margaret Hammerl was driving and Andrew Hammerl was in the back seat, authorities said. A front-seat passenger, identified as Mary R. Haberman, 77, of Eggerstville, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Erie County Medical Center. She was in critical condition Monday morning, the Sheriff's Office said.
The driver of the westbound vehicle, identified as Tony E. Wagner, 29, of Gasport, was not transported by rescue crews, authorities said.
