A New York Alert to "shelter in place" was lifted at 11:20 a.m. for Lewiston residents in the area of Garlow, Stolz, Kline, and Laurel roads and Donna Drive.
New York State police had responded to a a barricaded suicidal subject on Garlow Road and were able to take him into custody without incident, according to State Police spokesperson Trooper James O'Callahan.
State Police Special Operation Response Team (SORT) and negotiators were on the scene and state police were assisted by the Lewiston police and fire departments and Niagara County Sheriff Department, said O'Callahan.
The alert had first been issued at 10:10 a.m. Saturday.
During the alert residents had been warned of the active call and were told to stay inside their homes.
