The owners of the Fox Creek Estates senior apartments in East Amherst plan to build a mixed-used development of apartments, offices and retail space next to their Transit Road property.
Two three-story buildings are proposed at 9540 Transit Road, north of Casey Road. The same partners behind the 9540 Transit site own the townhomes just to the south at 9512 Transit and the senior apartments at 9500 Transit, said Sean W. Hopkins, the owners' attorney.
The applicant, Fox Creek Estates III LLC, is seeking to rezone about 1.8 acres of the 6.8-acre suburban-agriculture site for the buildings and parking spaces, leaving most of the north portion that runs along a neighboring subdivision permanent open space.
The first floor of each building would house retail and office space, and the second and third floors would hold 38 apartments total. The Amherst Planning Board could take up the rezoning request in August.
