Quick hits: Bisons 13, Louisville 2

LOUISVILLE — Perhaps the Buffalo Bisons have gotten their offensive groove back.

For the second time this road trip, the Herd scored in double-digits, earning a 13-2 win over the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Stadium Friday night.

The Herd had 19 hits and seven different players drove in runs.

Brett Oberholtzer pitched a gem, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits over seven innings. He struck out six and issued no walks.

Starting early: The Bisons took a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Gregorio Petit had a two-out single and Mike Ohlman drew a walk. A single from Rowdy Tellez scored Petit and the Herd scored the game’s first run. Then Jason Leblebijian homered to score three more.

Giving one back: Louisville got on the board in the bottom of the first. After back-to-back singles by the Bats, Buffalo second baseman Jon Berti made a fielding error, allowing one run to score.

Opening up the offense: The Bisons added three more runs in the second. Andrew Guillotte led off with a triple and scored on an RBI single by Roemon Fields. Fields scored on a single by Berti and later in the inning Dwight Smith Jr. scored on a wild pitch.

In the sixth, the Herd added runs off RBI singles from Petit and Ohlman while Tellez drove in a run on a ground-out.

How about three more? The Bisons added a three-run seventh with RBI singles from Smith Jr., Ohlman and Tellez.

Petit keeps hitting: Petit collected his fifth-straight multi-hit game on Friday, going 3 for 5 with two RBIs. He has hits in 11 of his last 13 games.

Roster moves: On Friday, the Bisons activated right-handed pitcher Taylor Cole who was promoted from Class-A Dunedin while right-handed pitcher Griffin Glaude was transferred to Lansing.

Up next: The series continues Saturday (6:35 p.m.) with the Bisons starting righty Chris Rowley against Louisville righty Rookie Davis. The series, and road trip, concludes at 6:05 p.m. Sunday with lefty T.J. House starting for the Herd against lefty Cody Reed.
