GRAB A PLATE – New Hope United Methodist Church, 2846 Seneca St., West Seneca, will host a free community meal from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. The menu will include goulash, salad, bread, dessert and beverages. A free-will offering is welcomed.

TRUE CLASSICS – Works by an early 18th century Italian composer will be featured when the Buffalo Chamber Players present “An Evening of Pergolesi” at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Sculpture Court at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
The program will include a fully-staged performance of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s 1733 comic opera, “La serva padrona,” with soprano Colleen Marcello, baritone James Wright and actor David Bondrow.
Seating is limited. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $55, $45 for gallery members, and can be purchased by calling 270-8292 or by searching for “Pergolesi” at albrightknox.org.

HARDSCAPING – Want to create an unusual outdoor accent? Virginia Koeppel will lead a class entitled “Concrete Leaves for Your Garden” from 6 to 8 p.m. next Wednesday at Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery, 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.
Students will bring a large leaf from a hosta or another sizeable leaf, the bigger the better, along with rubber gloves, Saran Wrap and a wooden board to work on that’s larger than the leaf.
After the leaves dry, the group will meet again from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 to paint and seal their leaves with outdoor acrylic paint and sealant spray. Cost is $35. For more information, call 675-0204 or visit etjgallery.com.
