Erie County Sheriff's Office dogs helped deputies locate two lost elderly individuals who were missing on Tuesday.
The first incident involved an 80-year-old woman on Grand Island around 3:30 p.m. A care provider noticed she was gone from her house on Love Road. Two deputies responded, one with his canine partner, Apollo. After a 40-minute search, Apollo located the woman wandering in the woods.
The second person, a 79-year-old resident of the Town of Clarence, was reported missing around 10:15 p.m. when his home care aide couldn't locate him in the house, authorities said. Two officers arrived with a canine partner, Haso. The search lasted less than 15 minutes; he was located in a wooded area along Hedgewood Drive.
Both were found in good health and taken home.
