Kayak paddle planned for Niagara River near Beaver Island State Park

Whether you are a skilled kayaker, a beginner or would like to find out more about kayaking – 12th Annual Paddles Up Niagara, along the southeastern shore of Grand Island will offer a day of paddling, food and vendors from 7 a.m to 2 p.m. July 29, Beaver Island State Park, shelter 2B.

Early morning tours are offered at 7 or 7:30 a.m. The courses will cross the river channel and require moderate paddling abilities. Participants must bring their own kayak. Register online at bnriverkeeper.org/paddlesup.

A paddle at 11 a.m. will stay close to shore and is suitable for paddlers of all abilities. Limited kayak rentals will be available.

The Paddle Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. will provide a chance to try a kayak, learn new skills and receive rescue instruction from WeKaNu.

There will also be vendors, food and a beer tent provided by Flying Bison.
