Amherst has them, and Lancaster and Cheektowaga, too.
Now West Seneca Town Board members think state expressways near streets in their town should have sound barriers as well. The board is making a formal request to the state to erect barriers where the Aurora Expressway (Route 400) and the Thruway come close to neighborhoods.
The town is looking for barriers along the Thruway near the Paxford-Fairfax, Emporium-Aurora and Bernadette Terrace-Fisher Court areas, and along Route 400 where it borders the Freemont-Warren, Robin Lane and Summit Meadows areas.
"West Seneca residents' quality of life and health are being negatively affected by the absences of sound barriers," the board said in a resolution that it is sending to state officials.
