A man is in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center after he was found shot on Marshall Street on Monday morning.
The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was found in the first block of Marshall, which is just east of Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
A passerby found the man at 8:50 a.m. Monday, a Buffalo police spokesman said in an email.
Homicide detectives called the police department's photo and evidence units to the scene near 75 Marshall at about 9:30 a.m., according to department radio transmissions. Homicide investigators also handle non-fatal shootings in the city.
Police have not released the man's name.
Police ask anyone who may have information on what happened to call or text the department's confidential tip line at 847-2255.
There were two shootings near the corner of Marshall and Bardol streets last year, according to Buffalo Police Department statistics. One happened at 4:58 p.m. June 30 and the other happened at 1:10 p.m. Oct. 26.
There was also a shooting last year about a block away at 33 Spiess St., according to police data.
Last year, 288 people were shot in Buffalo, according to police department statistics.
