Orchard Park Town Councilman Michael Sherry has taken on another duty: executive director of youth services.
The Town Board appointed Sherry to the unpaid position, which he expects to last through 2019, when a permanent director would be appointed to oversee recreation and youth services, including Youth Court. His tasks are to form a Youth Bureau and to conduct a search for an assistant executive director, as well to find director for the Youth Court.
Sherry and Orchard Park Village Mayor Jo Ann Litwin Clinton were named interim co-executive directors of town youth services in December, and they came up with the administrative structure.
"It's an opportunity in the sense that we want to enhance and expand the youth services we offer," Sherry said.
The executive director will be chairman of the Youth Bureau, which will consist of representatives from the Recreation Department and Youth Court.
