Demand for blood in the summer months often exceeds supply and Unyts will hold a blood drive on Wednesday, July 12 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Brighton Fire Department, 50 Jamaica Road.
Donors will receive a T-shirt and a hot dog.
Brighton Fire Commissioner Walter Byers, an ambassador for the blood drive, urged fellow firefighters and their families to stop in and donate.
"Being an active member means responding to various emergencies in the community. This is just as important," Byers stated in a press release. "Every one of us has a very busy schedule. This only takes a few minutes of your time. Please help Brighton reach our goal."
Walk-ins are welcome, but you may also schedule an appointment at www.unyts.org or by calling 512-7940.
