It's not every day a team signs a complete line. But the Buffalo Beauts did that on Tuesday.
The team announced it had signed a complete line from Division III Adrian College -- Kristin Lewicki, Kaylyn Schroka and Sarah Shureb. As seniors last year, the line of combined for 187 points on 86 goals and 101 assists.
“They were a force together,” said Beauts GM and co-coach Ric Seiling said in a press release. “Their stats speak volumes and they showed us at our free agent camp what they’re capable of. We look for them to carry their magic over to the NWHL.”
Lewicki scored 90 goals with 179 in 113 career games at Adrian, for a points-per-game average of 1.58. She is a nominee this year for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, which honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academic achievement, athletics ability, service and leadership.
As a senior, Lewicki led the Bulldogs to the 2017 Division III national title game and led the nation with 66 points on 32 goals and 34 assists.
Schroka scored 69 with 149 in 111 games while Shureb netted 46 goals and 102 points over 108 games.
"At the Beauts’ free agent camp, I thought we showcased ourselves very well and was hoping they would take the three of us because it would be such an awesome experience for us to play together again – especially in the NWHL," Lewicki said in a statement. "I think we click so well as a line because we have different styles that allow us to feed off each other. Playing together for four years and having the bond we have helps us click on the ice and just have fun with each shift.
"If it works out, I would love for us to be a line for the Beauts. We want to prove as D-III players we can compete at a higher level. Doing that as a line in the NWHL would be an awesome feeling."
