A broken water line flooded eight courtrooms at the Erie County Courthouse early Monday morning, causing "extensive water damage."
No cases were adjourned because of the flooding and affected judges were moved to unused courtrooms, according to a release from the New York State Unified Court System.
The broken water line affected the north side of the courthouse at 25 Delaware Ave.
Several of the flooded courtrooms will not be usable for several weeks. Cases on the court calendars will be rescheduled on a daily basis, according to the court system.
Signs will be posted daily by the elevators alerting attorneys, litigants and members of the public if their assigned courtroom has been changed.
