CAMBRIA – A Niagara Falls man faces a variety of charges, including driving while impaired by drugs, after reportedly running over at least two headstones while visiting the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery on Church Road, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies responded to the cemetery around 5:30 p.m. on July 4 and found several people attempting to restore some overturned headstones.
They eventually focused on Linwood Avenue resident Adam C. Schneider, 35, who reportedly told them he was at the cemetery visiting the grave of his child, and while there he decided to “test drive” his brother’s vehicle. While doing so, he inadvertently ran over several graves and upended at least two headstones.
Schneider reportedly admitted to having smoked marijuana earlier in the day. He was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment of property.
