Woman nearly hits patrol car, faces multiple charges

LITTLE VALLEY – A Little Valley woman faces multiple traffic charges after she nearly struck a deputy in a patrol car head-on on Route 353 near Broadway Road about 7:20 p.m. Saturday, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Officers said Ashley M. Mazurzyk, 34, of Pigeon Valley Road, was stopped on Maple Hill Road after she tried to elude the deputy. According to the Sheriff’s Office, she said she had been using her cellphone and was scared. An investigation showed that her license had been suspended for being a persistent violator.

Mazurzyk was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to keep right and use of an electronic device. She was released pending an appearance in Persia Town Court.
