A half-mile section of Transit Road in Depew, between Walden and Gould avenues, will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday, the state Department of Transportation announced.
The closure is necessary to complete demolition of an abandoned Lehigh Valley Railroad bridge piers. Detours will direct motorists to Walden, Dick Road and Broadway.
This work is weather sensitive and will be delayed in the event of inclement weather.
The DOT hopes Transit Road, also called Route 78, will reopen Monday, with traffic restricted to one lane in each direction for six weeks between Walden Avenue and Terrace Boulevard as road work continues.
