Will Linda McMahon visit Buffalo?
McMahon is probably most familiar for her ties to professional wrestling. She is co-founder – with her husband, Vince – and former CEO of what is now called World Wrestling Entertainment. Earlier this year, President Donald Trump named her administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
She has launched the "SBA Ignite Tour," with plans to visit more than 60 cities over two years.
"We've put a request in," said Franklin J. Sciortino, director of the Buffalo district office, which covers 14 upstate counties. Sciortino made a personal pitch to McMahon when he saw her recently in Virginia at a directors meeting.
McMahon's full tour schedule is still being developed, said Carol Wilkerson, an SBA spokeswoman in Washington, D.C.
McMahon has already visited places like Puerto Rico and Las Vegas. Other tour stops on the schedule this summer include Pittsburgh, Detroit and Seattle. McMahon is using the visits to hear from small business owners about their concerns and to spread the word about SBA products and services.
Sciortino said he suggested McMahon visit Buffalo in January when his district office hosts "Straight Talk," a signature event for his team. The annual conference is aimed at helping entrepreneurs and small businesses grow.
McMahon ran unsuccessfully for a U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut, in 2010 and 2012. She is also co-founder and former CEO of Women's Leadership LIVE, which trains women to launch and expand their own businesses.
