Buffalo man, 13-year-old girl wounded in shooting at Grant and Breckenridge

A 33-year-old Buffalo man and a 13-year-old girl sitting on a front porch were wounded in a shooting Thursday night at Grant and Breckenridge on Buffalo's West Side.

Northwest District officers found the two when they responded to the call of a shooting at 9:40 p.m., said Michael J. DeGeorge, Buffalo Police spokesman.

The girl was struck in the shoulder by a stray bullet while on a porch with her parents about five houses away from the shots were fired, police said at a news conference Friday morning outside Erie County Medical Center. The girl was taken to Women & Children's Hospital.

The man, who police said was shot in the face, is in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center.

Names of the two shooting victims were not released by police.

The shooting occurred while people were attending a vigil on the street in memory of a person who died July 4 from a medical condition, police said.
