Niagara County Legislator Rebecca J. Wydysh, R-Lewiston, has announced her candidacy for a second term in office.
Wydysh has been active in trying to find ways to cope with the opioid addiction crisis, serving as chairwoman of a special committee on the issue.
“When I came to the County Legislature, I told my colleagues I wanted to make a difference where my own knowledge and experience could really have an impact,” Wydysh said. “As the president of the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association in Niagara County, the wife of the district attorney’s chief drug crimes prosecutor (Peter M. Wydysh), a court system employee, and most importantly, a mom, I have been able to move this issue forward.”
Wydysh serves as the county's deputy commissioner of jurors. She represents the 2nd District, which covers parts of Lewiston and Wheatfield.
