Five Sabres have until Wednesday afternoon to decide whether they want to file for arbitration.
Restricted free agents Robin Lehner, Nathan Beaulieu, Zemgus Girgensons, Johan Larsson and Evan Rodrigues are eligible for arbitration and must file by the 5 p.m. deadline. All have received qualifying offers from the Sabres, though none have signed a contract.
If players decide not to file, that doesn’t mean there won’t be an arbitration hearing. NHL teams can take players to arbitration. That deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday.
The sides can negotiate deals up to the start of the hearing, which is usually held in late July or early August.
Lehner has a $3.15 million qualifying offer. Girgensons’ qualifying offer is $1.15 million, followed by Beaulieu ($1 million), Larsson ($997,500) and Rodrigues ($787,500).
