GLOVES OFF – One of Western New York’s most unusual and unheralded attractions, the Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame, will hold its ninth induction ceremony July 8 in the Allegany County village of Belfast.
A dozen men will be welcomed into the Hall, six bare fisted fighters and six honorary inductees who have brought positive attention to Upstate New York. Among them is Shannon “The Cannon” Ritch, a mixed martial artist from Arizona with 25 bare-knuckle knockouts who has been seen in bad-guy roles in films and on TV.
Tickets are $55, $20 for kids, pre-sale only, and include the induction brunch, a chance to meet the honorees, glove signing, unveiling of original artwork and a tour of the Hall of Fame’s restored 19th century barn complex at 5 W. Hughes St. where legendary champ John J. Sullivan worked with trainer William Muldoon for a major bout in 1889.
