Niagara Falls burglar leaves loot behind when neighbor surprises him

NIAGARA FALLS – A burglar apparently dropped his loot and fled after being surprised by a Spring Street neighbor late Saturday night, police report.

The neighbor told police that, around 11:30 p.m., he heard noises coming from an alleyway akin to someone dragging a recycle bin. He went to investigate and saw a man quickly walking away from the area. He then noticed a cooler containing meats and alcoholic beverages, as well as a large speaker box, nearby in the alley.

Police said that someone had entered the garage of a Whirlpool Street woman via an unlocked man door and removed $100 worth of frozen meats, $50 worth of beer and $10 worth of cigarettes from inside. Also taken was a large speaker box with an attached amplifier, valued at $700. All of the items, except for the cigarettes, were recovered from the alleyway.
