Deputies investigate series of break-ins in Royalton

ROYALTON – Barns, garages and homes on Ernest and Royalton Center roads were targeted in a series of break-ins during a 24-hour period last week, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reports.

At a Royalton Center Road home, someone pushed in a window air conditioning unit between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The occupant told deputies a shotgun belonging to a friend was taken.

Deputies were called to the area three times Wednesday, first for the theft of a 2017 Kawasaki dirt bike valued at about $7,600 from a barn in the 9100 block of Ernest Road.

In the next block of Ernest Road, two bicycles were taken overnight – an MGX mountain bike from a garage and a pink-and-white Huffy bike from a shed. An attempted third theft was unsuccessful. A Royalton Center Road resident told deputies someone moved an ATV from one side of his property to the other overnight, but left it there.
