Chris Durr of Williamsville East has been named New York State Class A Coach of the Year in softball.
Durr, the Prep Talk Awards Coach of the Year, guided the Flames to their first state final and an 18-4 record.
Players who received first team All-State honors in the various classes include Williamsville East sophomore shortstop Christy Mack, multi-time All-Western New York pitcher and Prep Talk Awards Softball Player of the Year Karsen Cotton of Depew (Class B), St. Mary's Erin Hufford (Class C) and Franklinville junior Ally Haskell (Class D).
Others honored by the state by classification are as follows (underclassmen indicated):
Class AA: Second team -- Kara Paradowski (Lancaster). Third team -- Emily Nicosia (Williamsville North). Fourth team -- Madison Stewart-11 (Orchard Park). Fifth team -- Abby Vincent-10 (Williamsville North). Sixth team -- Abby Borkowski-11 (Kenmore West). Seventh team -- Jenna Patterson-11 (Lancaster). Eighth team -- Maddie Evarts-10 (Niagara Wheatfield), Jessica Leone-11 (Kenmore West), Hannah Marlowe (Clarence).
Class B: Second team -- Annie Dipirro-10 (Depew), Molly Breier (Eden), C Abby Stone-11 (Akron). Third team -- Madison Gadd-10 (Alden). Fourth team --Laura Gregory-11 (Mt. Mercy). Fifth team -- Hannah Cybert (Fredonia). Sixth team -- Emilee Hanlon-11 (Dunkirk), Emily Kams (Medina, Jordan Petyk-11 (Depew).
