Talks about plans for the Huntley Power Plant begin

NRG Energy officials met this week for the first time in more than a year with Town of Tonawanda officials to discuss the future of NRG's closed Huntley Power Plant site.

"It's the first time in 16 months that we've had a face-to-face," said Tonawanda Supervisor Joseph H. Emminger, who has frequently lamented the lack of communication from NRG.

Emminger declined to provide any details about the discussion with NRG officials, but he called it a "good discusssion" and he said they plan to get together again.

"We are trying to find a resolution," said Emminger.

NRG had been the biggest property tax payer in the town before its coal-fired power plant closed.
