Sporadic showers could bring thunderstorms, gusty winds, flooding

Periodic showers forecast for this afternoon and Saturday could be accompanied by strong thunderstorms in Western New York, with a risk of gusty winds and localized flooding in affected areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance of thunderstorms in the region is slightly higher this afternoon than Saturday, but the weather service said to expect storms both afternoons. Light rain and cloud cover are also likely both days, with high humidity and temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s.

The arrival of a cold front Saturday night should bring an end to the rains, paving the way for a clear Sunday with temperatures in the mid-70s, lower humidity and less cloud cover, the weather service said.
