Northtown Hyundai on Monday will reopen its extensively renovated and expanded dealership on Sheridan Drive in Amherst.
Northtown Automotive poured nearly $5 million into improving the customer and employee experience at the region's largest Hyundai dealership, said Harold Erbacher, a co-owner and the chief operating officer of the auto group.
Northtown Hyundai for many years shared the 20,000-square-foot building at 3675 Sheridan Drive, just east of Millersport Highway, with its Subaru dealership. But Northtown Subaru moved to 3930 Sheridan about 18 months ago to give both dealerships more room to grow.
The Hyundai facility was upgraded with a naturally lit showroom, climate-controlled service entrance, heated floors in the service area, expanded customer lounge and employee break area, Wi-Fi and other features. Work began six months ago, and Northtown has sold Hyundais from the Subaru dealership in the interim.
The work coincides with the national rollout of Hyundai's updated corporate identity, so the building reflects the automaker's new bronze color scheme, Erbacher said.
The dealership has about 45 employees. They'll start moving into their offices and workspaces over the weekend, Erbacher said, and the dealership also will begin moving its vehicle inventory to the property to prepare for reopening at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
