Akeal Shackleford and Julien Dragomir scored the goals and FC Buffalo pinned the first loss of the season the rival Erie Commodores, 2-1, Friday night at Robert E. Rich All High Stadium.
Shackleford, who leads Buffalo in goals this season, scored his fifth in the ninth minute to put home team in front. Good work down the left wing by Austin Stout set up the goal.
Dragomir, who entered the game in the second half, scored for the second game in a row with an assist by Isaiah Barrett in the 76th minute. Erie made for a nervous finish, getting a goal during 4 minutes of stoppage time, but Buffalo held on to improve its record to 3-4-3 in the East Conference of the National Premier Soccer League.
Erie was 4-0-2 coming into the game, and was the only team in the conference not to have suffered a defeat this season. Buffalo and Erie had played to a 0-0 draw at Gannon University in Erie, Pa. on May 26.
Next opponent for FC Buffalo will be the Fort Pitt Regiment on July 9 in Pittsburgh. FC Buffalo’s final regular season game will be against AFC Cleveland at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at All High.
