A Niagara Falls man caught carrying a Chinese-made version of a Russian brand of semiautomatic pistol was sentenced to five years' probation Thursday by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.
Sean A. Cameron, 39, of Michigan Avenue, had pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a firearm. Kloch could have sent him to prison for as long as four years, but chose probation because Cameron had no previous criminal record.
Cameron was arrested Oct. 11 on Woodlawn Avenue in the Falls after police checked out a report of a man with a gun in his waistband. They found the Chinese copy of a Tokarev 9mm pistol loaded with eight rounds of ammunition, Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said.
