The developer planning apartments and retail stores on Niagara Falls Boulevard in northwest Amherst said he expects to begin foundation work this fall.
Anthony Cutaia, president of Rane Management, received final approvals from the town Planning Board earlier this month for his development at 3455 Niagara Falls Blvd., next to the former Evergreen Golf Course.
Cutaia proposes to construct two, five-story buildings, with retail space and parking on the first floor and 152 apartments on the upper floors of both buildings.
Cutaia plans to spend between $16 million and $18 million on the project. Cutaia said he is awaiting final engineering and architectural designs for the buildings and is wrapping up the financing. Rane hopes to open the first building to tenants by April or May and the second building about six months after that. The retail space could feature a pizzeria, brewery and a gym open to the public and tenants alike, Cutaia said.
