An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night in Buffalo's Hamlin Park neighborhood, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was shot at about 10:50 p.m. near Daisy Place and Florida Street, a Buffalo police spokesman said.
He had just recently graduated from an alternative program in the Buffalo Public Schools, school officials said.
"We just lost a kid last night, " Buffalo Superintendent Kriner Cash said.
The killing is the city's 27th homicide of the year.
The man was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center where he later died, the spokesman said. Police did not release any further information about what happened.
